Update on EXTENDED Contest

We have several entries we like so far that are in the lead for an award. But, we want to provide more time to see if we can get closer to our vision. The good news: this guarantees an award.

The house is the most important thematic element. Our recommendation, regarding the house, is to render the house in the colors as shown in the EPSON130 JPG file in the uploads. Look at the picture in the lower left corner and notice the gray/silver of the tin roof, white of the house, and red trim along the base of the house. We like the angle of the house based on the picture in the upper right corner where you see folks standing in the yard. But, be creative, just know that the porch is where all the storytelling happened. You do not need to include the people, the trees or the bushes. If you do and it works, that's great. The white picket fence might be a nice touch if it were included.

We only received a few submissions in the style we recommended in the original project description. I have taken a screenshot from that link and placed as a file called ARC.png. We would like to see efforts closer to that style with both the name and the house incorporated.

We are a small nano-brewery in Corona, CA called Storytellers Brewery and Meet House: https://www.facebook.com/storytellersbrewery/

We are looking for a logo that incorporates several thematic elements and which leverages what I would describe as an ornamental font style. You can find examples of some of the font styles we like at:

We are not looking for a replica and are open to other styles.

In our logo, you must incorporate a rendering of the house from which we derive our name. Our grandfather ran a self-sufficient farm in the foothills of the Appalachians often referred to as The Meeting House. Built in the early 1900s, it was a popular gather point for folks that lived or passed through the area. Many folks gathered on its porch to relax, share a drink, and swap stories and news of the day. Sort of a physical chatroom of its time.

Also, we would like to include among the ornaments and flourishes, subtle clues to the states in the USA from which each of the owners have lived and that make up their story.

These flourishes could be state birds, flags, flowers, trees, whatever. The states are: South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, and now, California.

I have attached a few pics of the old Meeting House. The house is no longer, and was torn down years ago. So, it lives on through the theme of our brewery.

This logo will be used on T-shirts, hats, window signage via large sticker application and other placards and banners in the future.

This initial contest is to find something we feel le can work with. After that, we are likely to engage the winner(s) in a project to refine the logo.

For anyone monitoring our scoring, don't get hung up on 4s vs 5s. We have given one 5, so far, because stylistically it is the only one that hit the style we provided as an example in the description. It is a very solid example. Doesn't mean we are going to choose it, though its definitely a front runner. We may reach out to more than one artist to discuss purchasing your work outside of the contest.

We have extended the contest another week guaranteeing there will be an award. Also, please re-read the description for updates. I have also put up some new pics added to the original set. They include a picture of a logo style we are a big fan of. The others are pictures of hops, barley, wheat, oats, and rye, which are all ingredients in our beers. Might be interesting, for logos that include ornamentation, to included these ingredients here and there. Not a requirement, just an idea. Use your own judgement as to what works. We recognize that too many elements might make the logo too busy.

I have added another file to the description of the project called Logo Markup. It is an example of a logo we are fond of. Not suggesting yours should mirror this. Just throwing out the concept, do with it what you will.

Would love to see a rendering with the house behind the Logo Name or integrated into the Logo Name. So, Storytellers Brewery and Meet House would be overlaid and expanding, beyond both edges of the house rendering. The house could be inside an oval or other shape (ring left behind by a beer glass), or perhaps the logo is in a ribbon or flourish.

What I am seeing so far would be great if I was running a Real Estate company. None are close to what I described in the original contest description, especially given we are a brewery (we make and serve beer). I have provided 7 days, so maybe someone will do something beyond the basic stock work. Remember, the winner, if awarded, gets a project to refine their submission, based on our input. We know additional work will be required. I need to know, by looking at your work, that you are artistic and more than just a cut and paste, stock gifs jockey.

  Thank you for your reply. The earlier submissions I have seen are generic and uninteresting, so hopefully you bring more creativity. As I indicate in the post, the winner will likely get additional work to help refine their own submission. We doubt anyone will be able to produce a logo that we just use outright. We are looking for someone that can get us close enough that we are willing to work with them going forward.
