I am writing a fantasy book that hinges a lot around the magic system. I require 7 icons to be designed that can be used in multiple ways throughout the book. They will be used on the front cover, and as an icon for chapter headings throughout the book. So they must be bright and obvious and using colour for the front cover, but also make sense as line art when read on a black and white kindle screen (the colour version is much more important though!). In the fantasy world, when a spell is cast, everything is colour-based, and so a fire spell would give the caster a red aura. Possibly, in the wake of the spell, the symbol that you create could also hang in the air. It can be obscure/arcane if it still comes across as "fire" in visual language.

For artistic style/inspiration, my book is effectively warcraft meets pokemon. Everything is slightly larger than life, with big armour and powerful wizards fighting alongside their faithful elemental animal companions. Pokemon cards already have logos for several elements, so consider those, and warcraft's card game, Hearthstone, uses a lot of symbols and art, so consider that too.

Element - Colour
Water - light blue
Air - white
Earth - brown
Fire - red
Arcane - swirling shiny crystal, translucent, possibly metallic
Dark - dark purple/black
Light - yellow

I am open to any good looking ideas. I think that having each icon surrounded by a shape of some kind makes sense and will allow them to be multi-purpose (similar to how all pokemon symbols are in a circle. A different shape for each symbol would be good too though, circle, square, triangle, etc.)

I know I've referenced the pokemon symbols multiple times, but obviously I don't just want them, I want original artwork and ideas. Cartoony, realistic, arcane, I'm open to it all!
