Hi there,

My name is Debbie and I'm stepping in to help my mum, Maryann, who has just finished writing her life story. It has been 5 years in the making and she did it so that her children, grand children and great grand children would appreciate how things were done back in the 1940's. She was born and grew up in Sri Lanka, the 2nd of 8 children and after many visits to Melbourne, Australia, over the years to visit her children and after the loss of her husband, she finally re-married and settled down close to her family at 65yrs of age in Melbourne.
We are hoping to print a few copies in the form of an A5 booklet (210 x 148mm) so that it could be passed around to the family for their reading pleasure.
And we would love to have a cover design which depicts and captures the essence of her journey.
(psst. This is where you come in).
The front cover background will need to extend to the back cover as well plus a spine.


The name of the book is LINKS IN A MEMORABLE CHAIN.
(Please see attached back cover description which may help give you an idea)

My mum's design brief is as follows:
She would like to have the maps/two countries of Sri Lanka & Australia on the cover, including links (as the name suggests) running from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Melbourne, Australia. She has been advised it might be a good idea to have the name of the countries written within (each country) so readers can identify that the story is about Sri Lanka & Australia.
She has no particular colour or font preference.

The cover has to contain the maps, the name of the book and the authors name, Maryann Ferdinands-Grigson. The rest is up to your creativity!

As this is the first time I'm working with Freelancer, I hope I haven't missed anything glaringly obvious? In case I have feel free to contact me and I'll happily clarify.
