The approach in my mind to solve this problem is by first reducing the image dimension (size) to an appropriate extant, train the SVM classifier with the data, save the model and predict new images/videos based off of that model.

Hey there, I have done quite some work in image processing and machine learning. I did a face recognition system using 20 faces of each person in the database, image forgery detection system and handwritten digit recognizer. But for queen bee recognition, I think it is going to take a lot of images to train the recognizing model because they all look alike.
