Write a 1250-1500 word research essay on a topic of your choice related to Tom Regan’s “The Case for Animal Rights”. Your paper must be well-argued, well- developed and express your point of view. In “The Case for Animal Rights” Tom Regan argues “[t]he fundamental wrong” in our relationship with animals “is the system that allows us to view animals as our resources, here for us—to be eaten, or surgically manipulated, or exploited for sport or money.” He says “[o]nce we accept this view of animals - as our resources - the rest is as predictable as it is regrettable” (1). Using this as a jumping off point, create your own argument based on an aspect of animal rights that you choose. You must include Tom Regan’s article as well as THREE scholarly sources. You may include information from credible news sources (if your argument calls for it), but they must be in addition to the FOUR scholarly sources. You must use MLA style and have a properly formatted works cited page. Any paper without a properly formatted works cited will automatically lose 5 per cent.
