"Theories of Competition" This topic features several significant readings centred on a seminal marketing topic from the Journal of Marketing, documenting a scholarly debate which occurred in the extant marketing literature during the 1990s. The purpose is threefold: 1. Demonstrate your knowledge of the selected seminal articles through summarising their main points and contributions to marketing knowledge. 2. Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the selected articles based on aspects which you choose to be the focus for this paper (e.g., the author's use of theory, the paper's conceptual development, the logic and/or consistency of the claims made and so on - this list is not exhaustive). 3. Discuss conclusions stemming from your own evaluation of the articles; and, to contribute your own suggestions to this ongoing scholarly debate for ways in which the arguments presented in the articles could be extended, improved, or further challenged.
