Hello, I'm having trouble with the transition from my shared hosting server to my VPS, my Django application uses a library for real estate transactions called libRETS, that I haven't been able to install in my VPS.
Root access was needed to create temporary files in a privileged folder. I got around that by specifying a specific location for the installation process to create these files in. I also had to give it a specific location for the boost version because it wasn’t finding it, which I see is already mentioned in the instructions you sent.
This page was helpful when I installed it: [login to view URL] I suggest using the arguments besides the ./configure call:
./configure --prefix=~/bin --disable-java --disable-perl --disable-dotnet --enable-shared_dependencies --with-boost-prefix=~/bin
Here are the instructions to install libRETS (I have installed everything already, the only problem was boost)
_________________________________________
Installing the Prequisites
==========================
gcc
---
Version: 3.3 or higher
URL: [login to view URL]
Earlier versions of gcc do not have good C++ support.
Boost
-----
Version: 1.32.0 or higher.
URL: [login to view URL]
Boost has it's own build system, bjam. Read it's instructions for
installation. You need to compile and install the filesystem and
program options libraries.
libcurl
-------
Version: 7.13.2 or higher.
URL: [login to view URL]
Build as per its instructions. No special steps are needed.
Expat
-----
Version: 1.95.8 or higher.
URL: [login to view URL]
Build as per its instructions. No special steps are needed.
Java SDK
--------
Version: 1.4.2 or higher.
URL: [login to view URL]
Download, install, and setup the JAVA_HOME environment variable.
ANTLR
-----
Version: 2.7.5 or higher.
URL: [login to view URL]
Build as per its instructions. No special steps are needed.
Building librets
================
Run the following commands:
% ./configure
% make
% sudo make install
If boost or expat can't be found, then you may need to override that with
switches to the configure step. For example, if boost and expat were beneath
/opt/local/, then you'd:
% ./configure --with-boost-prefix=/opt/local --with-expat-prefix=/opt/local

I'm getting the following error on the python app:
libboost_filesystem.so.1.65.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Can you help me installing libRETS in the server, please?
NOTE: the VPS doesn't have root access.
