I really like the idea of remote controlling LEDS using the ESP8266. I can configure the device to work in both AP and Station mode. You also need a web interface which includes buttons to control the LEDs. I will also build the web interface for you and also includes some AJAX codes to make the web portal more dynamic and the page will not reload when you pressed a button .
