hledger is a famous text-based accounting package. It is written in Haskell, and it runs on various Linux and BSDs. For this project, you need to (1) get it to compile on OpenBSD, which shouldn't be too difficult, (2) create a ports entry (i.e. something that goes into /usr/ports) and (3) compile it for amd64 as a package that can be installed with pkg_add. I'll pay a premium if you can get it included in the official OpenBSD ports tree (say whether you can do this in your response).

Hello. I actually don't have an OpenBSD so I'll have to do it in a VM but I have a few months of commercial experience programming Haskell and I have used Gentoo at home since about 7 years ago. Gentoo's Portage system is very similar to ports and I have written multiple packages for it, one of which got included into the main tree. I don't know if I can do it for OpenBSD but I can certainly try. So, if you don't find somebody who worked with both Haskell and OpenBSD I'll most probably be able to help you. I have 100% completion rate and I intend to leave it at 100% so I never take a job I know I can't do.

Hi! What I am not familiar with: a) hledger. I have always used GnuCash for my accounting needs. b) The ports system. I am mostly a Debian guy, so I am very familiar with the Debian build system instead. What I'd dare say I am quite experienced with: c) Haskell. It's been my favorite language for the past two years, and I use it almost exclusively for my personal projects. d) The *nix/free software ecosystem/community/way of doing things. So, if you don't get any better offers, I am confident I can have a package ready within 7-10 days. I can't promise it will be included in the ports tree, but I can promise to submit it and work through the issues that arise. Other than that, I'd love to work on this project, I am usually doing this kind of thing as a pastime. Thank you, best regards, Panos
