I'm an establishing science fiction and fantasy writer, have been for fifty yeArs, and now want to write (and publish) some picture books for children. I need an illustrator for the first book, story for which will be done in a month, I'd say. The illustrator needs to be up for imagining alien pets left on Earth one day and a GOC (girl of color) who adopts one of them. Not sure how many illustrations. The tone is light and celebrant of children as well as wonderfully strange animals. I also have an art background and am a consultant on book-cover designs.. My son is, among other things, a graphics person, but not right for this project.
Any illustrator interested in this gig--budget $400-500, I think--should sample work to me at firstname.lastname@example.org . Thanks. If I don't get back to you immediately, it's because I'll be out of the country and on the road until October 30. I promise to respond.
The illustrations need to be top-quality and right for submission to major American publishers of children's picture books. Please familiarize yourself with such books. Skills in cartoons, website graphics, etc. aren't enough.
