Hi there, For android working directly with services is not a good choice. I recommend you to use Work Manager component, which is made by google developers to help in similar cases to yours. I am pretty sure that this will solve your problem cause been to this problem before. Note: The Work Manager component works perfect in all android versions. so you don't have to care about each build version.
