Solve technical hurdle with React.js chrome extension, take over Chrome Ext Project

We have a chrome extension that adds react.js panel on the bottom of a google doc. We have a hotkey that gives focus to the react panel. The challenge we have: when the hotkey is pressed: We need to (1) Detect the current word under the cursor in the google doc (2) Send focus to the react control. (3) Provide the word to the react control, which can take an action based on that word. To do this you must solve the technical challenge of detecting when the react panel is given focus and take action on that event. Please speak specifically in your bid if you can solve this problem. If the project goes well, we are looking for a new developer to take the project forward. Skills needed: Expert with react.js, javascript and chrome extensions. Good-Excellent English is required to interface with our team. To take over the project we need a go-getter that has great skills and a positive attitude.
