C++ Sockets / DNS Query

Looking for a C/C++ programmer proficient in socket programming. This will be considered a test project which if we're happy with your coding this will lead to future projects for the selected Freelancer. Requirements: Create a simple socket application which sends a UDP DNS query to a single specified DNS server (the function you create must accept the IP address of the DNS server as a variable) to lookup a specified domain (again the function must accept the domain name as a variable). The application must compile under gcc version 4.8.5 with -std=gnu++11 or it will not be accepted. After sending the query to the DNS server, the application must read the response from the server (if any) and provide full headers and response provided by the DNS server. It must also extract and store the name and rdata information from all answers returned. The application must compile without errors, have absolutely no memory leaks or other issues reported by valgrind. Code must be documented so we know that you know what's going on and it's not a copy and paste of something you found. Please don't send a canned bid it will be ignored. This should be a quick project with potential for quite a few more projects down the road.
