Using provided data points AND an equation to use, find 50-100 data points to best fit the curve

To whom it may concern, I am a Mechanical Engineer and I can say that, due to my degree I have a strong background in mathematics, and I also have some prizes on that subject (even though they are from elementary and high school, they still show a certain comfort with the subject). Now regarding use of fitting tools: I have used both Origin and MATLAB for this purpose. The former I used for a article that I published in 2014, our goal was to create/adapt an equation to calculate the efficiency of otto cycle engines. The latter I used to fit a curve from some data that I acquired using arduino, this one I don't have available because I lost my hard drive that had the code, but I do remember how to do it. I could probably finish each fitting fairly quick, I'd say 10 minutes, but as the process gets more automated the final ones might take a couple of minutes, or even less, it really depends on the type of analysis you need me to do, if it is just the equation it could be really fast. (I realize you posted this based on time so the total time is important for you, I can assure you that if you'd like we could close on a price and a deadline so you don't have to worry about this getting too pricey.) I can start right away, and finishing the first 60 shouldn't take longer than a couple of days, but, like I said, it really depends on what sort of analysis I will be required to do. I do not know if I am qualified or not. As a new online freelancer I am exploring the site. The project is not clear to me. I have several questions. (1) How many data points do you have? Are they more than 1000 and I have to select 100 from them. (2) Is the equation algebraic or dynamic, linear or non-linear, deterministic or stochastic etc.? (3) If the data points are less than 20, then do I interpolate to get 100 points? (4) Is your data described as {x,y,z,n} where n is the number of points or time? (5) Do you have three equations or single equation in four variables? (6) What is the domain of the data points? There may be many more questions. I am not sure if an estimate for time and money can be given without a clear understanding of the project. I normally use Mathematica. But if you want I can use Matlab or any of your tools.
