I have created a basic Android Studio project using the new Jetpack Navigation, but the performance switching between fragments is very poor.

I require a solution that fixes this issue, so tapping the tab bar (at the bottom of screen) moves between fragments fast. Currently the delay on a Samsung Galaxy 6 is several seconds.

This problem must be fixed in the attached Android Studio project.

You must use Android Studio 3.3 and Kotlin.
