Senior Software Engineer / Full Stack Web Developer

Spain Startup is a small, young, fast paced startup with big ambitions.  In 4 years we have become the reference event for startups in Southern Europe via South Summit.  Our mission is to promote and support entrepreneurship in Southern Europe and Latin America by connecting the top entrepreneurs in the region to customers and investors while exposing them to cutting edge content over a 3 day event in Madrid.   At South Summit we bring together over 100 top VC firms and are supported by some of Spain´s largest corporations including Telefónica, Endesa, Banco Sabadell, and Google4Entrepreneurs.   We are going bigger and better for South Summit 2016, as well expanding into other product lines and therefore we are expanding our team.   We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Full stack developer, with loads of potential, someone who aims to make a difference every day.  We are a small team and this person will be critical in driving our technology efforts forward. You will be someone who is interested in innovation, entrepreneurship and connecting to the growing startup ecosystem within Spain.     The role is based in Madrid and will provide technical leadership on projects; you will be responsible for architecting and leading the implementation of solutions for all areas of business including proprietary systems to support the South Summit, and new product development.     . Role and Responsibility   Manage the development lifecycle to ensure the delivery of solutions that are optimized meet customer requirements, secure and built to scale. Lead technical discussions within the technical team and manage stakeholders. Articulate design considerations, trade-offs, benefits and recommendations for system design. Collaborate with Commercial, Marketing, Content and Start up teams to define, evaluate, prioritize and improve features and functionality. Responsible for driving Technical Assurance, ensuring developers adhere to engineering best practices and the application of approved technologies/toolsets. Working with Business Owner, establish an Agile development framework and where suitable include Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development within development processes   Profile   Must have: 6+ years of working experience - full cycle software engineering skill set, gained through the delivery of high quality code, preferably with experience in web based workflow automation and data analytics Proven expertise in some or all of the following technologies: PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, Objective-C, Nginx Experience integrating 3rd party APIs (e.g. Linkedin, Twitter etc) and libraries, caching solutions  (e.g. Varnish, Memcached, APC / OpCache), code management and versioning (e.g. github), continuous integration and automated testing tools. Demonstrable experience managing solutions based on cloud technologies including tools Amazon Web Services Strong focus on quality in terms UI, Functional and data perspective with proven experience in these areas. Spanish and English communication skills, required – at a conversation and documentation level Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related discipline   Valued: Experience leading project teams or development teams in design and implementation of projects Good understanding of Global Content Delivery Networks, video encoding, Ad-Integration, and Analytics Solutions etc. Keen to experiment with Machine Learning and Big Data Architectures in the future. Excellent technical solution design and documentation skills-
