The project is to design a fully functional booking and support system for Beaumanor Hall. Beaumanor Hall is a very large medieval castle estate owned by a council. The council allows the estate to be used for educational support and business conferences with its many rooms and suites. There are also specially formed ICT rooms which provide networked computers and internet access and also run special computer courses for teachers.
Certain rooms have courses running while certain rooms are just empty for general use upon booking (reception, conference, etc). The courses are managed by ICT consultants employed by Beaumanor Hall.
Every customer can be a private customer (business or individuals) or an educational customer (teachers and schools). All must have an individual (participant) who is ultimately responsible for the booking.
Presently the system for booking and payment is very much paper-based with computers only being used for word-processing and document printing. The procedures are time-consuming and in-efficient and data is not being accurately held or easily traceable.
I have provided certain files in zip format to help with the understanding of the project:
i Structure of the Organisation diagram and Booking designs in Powerpoint
ii Entity Relationship Diagram
iii Relationships (as so far designed)
iv Data Dictionary of tables (as so far designed)
## Deliverables
To deliver a system that can complete the main objectives of the project outlined (upon assessing the adequacy of the design):
1) To be able to book new or existing customers onto a course/room and also cancel booking.
2) To store information on each customer and all schools.
3) To be able to add, edit or delete customers.
4) To be able to search for a particular booking or to view bookings made on a particular room / course.
5) To accurately and easily display booking availability on all rooms.
6) To store information on all rooms and courses provided (seating number max, etc)
7) To store information on all ICT consultants and employees working at Beaumanor Hall.
8) To store and review performance on all ICT consultants and the courses provided
9) To provide a mechanism to accept deposit and payment on all bookings. Payment must allow for deposit prior to full payment and should include a discount facility
10) Provide a user-friendly system which is easy to use and has error handling
11) To provide a basic level of system security which allows access to certain functions for normal staff and all for admin.
*12) Optional Objective (upon completion will inc bonus). To develop a design on how the system would be used online (so online bookings could be made, etc)
The system should also have
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. Source code to be denoted on complex areas.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
4) Database relational tables
## Platform
Platform: Windows (all)
Package to be designed primarily in MS Visual Basic 6.0 with Access 2000 as database - other packages which benefit the overall project and are desired by coder can be discussed.
