I am trying to pass an object called "IDateTimeInfo" from VB to an ATL ActiveX EXE server. IDateTimeInfo has just a couple long properties and no validation code or anything.. real simple.
I have attached a zip file containing the complete code and VB client.
The access violation occurs on the fourth call from VB in this get_DateTime function:
STDMETHODIMP CBarInfo::get_DateTime(IDateTimeInfo **pVal)
{
*pVal = pDateTime; // this is a pointer to a IDateTimeInfo (crashes here)
return S_OK;
}
STDMETHODIMP CBarInfo::put_DateTime(IDateTimeInfo *newVal)
{
if(NULL != newVal){
pDateTime = newVal; // doesn't crash here, only in get_DateTime
}
return S_OK;
}
I've noticed that each time VB calls get_DateTime, pVal has a different address, even though it was assigned only once. pDateTime doesn't change as I would expect.
