PHP Store Front Update

We have a bespoke website created in 2006/7 that needs updating to current coding and web standards. There are new features, a new direction and elements that need installing or replacing.

Knowledge of PHP (with mySQL), JavaScript (jQuery) essential. Working alongside another coder/project manager.

## Deliverables

Around 25% of the work will be carried out by the project manager/coder. This should offer a guide to most of the work required:

### General front end design

* Update to latest HTML standards

* Update standards are consistently implemented

* Fix width of the site to suit the new direction of the site

* Increase the size of the menus, and header elements

* Introduce a new larger banner system

* Add a new home page (with supporting page) called Featured (to replace Top Products). Downplay other sections.

* Add a working "layer" version of the Software, Hardware and Electronics menu. Replace with new buttons as required.

* Change the design of the secondary left menu (for cart, checkout, my account, etc. pages)

* New focus on just 6 promoted products on homepage

* Add Google translation when required

* Add Facebook Like and Google+ +1 buttons

### Categories and Products design

* Update the styling of product and category boxes - need more space allocated to each item

* Update the design of product information page

* Improve listing of sub categories or categories within search results

* New feature: Sorting and filtering

* New feature: Add files/data section to give information in PDF or Word document as an addition to the specifications

* New feature: Handle large image viewing

### Other pages and functions

* Update: Simplify Business Users section until this section is required to modify prices at a later date

* Update: Promotions functionality update for implementation, consider improvement by adding search queries or specific manufacturers

* Update: Update CSS on the sign in page

* Improvement: Fix cart styling errors

* Update: Update cart functionality

* New feature: Checkout/shipping address management required

* Update: Review all aspects of the checkout process

* New feature: Implement new payment gateway(s)

* Update: Update shipping functionality, pricing, names etc.

* New feature: Add region specific pricing for shipping and handling. Currently UK only, Europe region required in the future.

### My account implementation

* Improvement: Fix "jumpy" right section from initially appearing below the left menu

* Improvement: Insert login/register here

* Improvement: Layout of account home page

* New feature: Add real address data (or update it matches DB records) on the account home page

* New feature: Account details, this feature was never implemented

* New feature: Recently viewed products, this feature was never implemented

* New feature: Order Tracking, this feature was never implemented

* Improvement: Forum reimplementation

* New feature: Returns, this feature was never implemented

* New feature: Recent Invoices, this feature was never implemented

* Improvement: News stories require security checks on links with the forum

### Newsletter implementation

* Improvement: Update design of page

* New feature: Add functionality to handle mailouts. Overall implementation to handle mailouts and processing user subscriptions

* New feature: Newsletter archive section

### Search updates

* Update: Update search results and code

* New feature: Add filtering of results

* New feature: Add filtering and/or search functionality to general browsing of categories
