Data Scraping Script For Soccer Leagues & Fixtures

Need a nice and simple data scraping script which will be run weekly (no cron job, shared hosting) to gather league table data of soccer leagues such as La Liga, Serie A etc. 1 - The scraper script will need to be easy to run and to visit set webpages to gather updated league-table data and scrape to an XML file, strip classes etc and output in a table format. Each league table will be echoable from the XML as <LALIGA> </LALIGA> etc. 2 - The scraper will also need to visit selected pages to scrape the results of the past 5 matches and the list of the next 5 matches to a file for each team in these leagues, such as FC Barcelona, scraping and storing as <BARCELONA> in an XML file called "[login to view URL]". The data will be stripped from a table on a webpage into a "<![CDATA[" style html entry in the XML. Again this does not need updated live and can be run manually by myself once a week to keep server load low. 3 - A fail safe system if the "origin site" is broken/down to not scrape bad data and kill the script to not ruin the last good XML file. Experience with scraping, php and XML required - shared hosting so no CPanel available. Thanks!
