Fix Indexing Errors in Magento 2

I have installed Magento 2 locally using MAMP. After install and logging into the backend I receive the following System Alert: One or more indexers are invalid. Make sure your Magento cron job is running. I have searched the web and am unable to correct the issue. Using CLI in Terminal and running this command: php bin/magento indexer:reindex returns a Zend_Db_Adapter_Exception error: No such file or directory. I need someone who know Magento really well and can do a remote login to my computer and fix the indexing issues and create a cron job if necessary. Thank you to all in advance. I need project completed ASAP.
