Hi I am already working on this project. I have been able to detect the vehicles and also classify their general type (bike, truck, bus, car) . The next challenge is ofcourse to further classify them using the training data of own roads/vehicles (currently on this stage). I am using opensource libraries which are working fine so far. Also I want to specify that the computation time is very high for these algos and if you want to do live vehicle detection and classification then it would require a very costly GPU (e.g 1000 USD GPU) which can do the required processing. Hi, there, Straightforwardly, the solution can be divided into 3 steps: 1 identify the moving object in the your stream which is not difficult considering you case (camera is still); frame the moving object; 2 train a binary classification network to identify if the moving object is a vehicle (not difficult as well); 3 set a vertical line at some part (say middle) of the stream image, if any framed vehicle firstly "touch" the line, snapshot the image. This is to make sure only snapshot one image for one vehicle (this post-process may need to handle several corner cases). Another approach: use public dataset to train a semantic segmentation network, you can have a pixel-wise classified image to check if any vehicle exists. ps, i prefer using python and pytorch, is it acceptable?
