I'm experienced with UNIX and bash, I've been using Linux as my daily driver since 2009. The script would consist mostly of a loop with if instructions that would compare output from ls -ld to date from ten minutes ago. I can finish the project in a day, it won't be a hard task.

I'm a systems administrator for high performance computing cluster at my university. I'm well accustomed to writing bash scripts that search for files that have timestamps older than x days and delete/print them based on the requirement. My approach would be to use `find` for this. In case, `find` is not available, I can write the script from scratch.

Hi, This is very basic bash scripting and I am happy to write the script as my first project on this site. My code is very clean and modularized when possible. I this instance, I can include the paths/files in the script, or have he script check from a separate file which lists the target paths/files. This way the files to be checks can easily be modified, without touching the script itself.

- Create a perl script which will take in list of directories as argument. - Script will loop through the directories to see if file is present. - Check if timestamp of the file is more than 10 minutes against the current time. - If yes, then print the absolute file path. - Run the script through cron with desired frequency. Perl script will be much more efficient that shell script & can scale easily without consuming too many cpu cycles.
