Dear Sir,
I am a Portuguese native speaker with eight years of experience in translations of legal documents from English/French to Portuguese. My experience as a translator goes back to 1986, when I was Head of Information Department of Macao Government Press Office (China) for seven years, in charge of contacts with foreign journalists and supervision of translations from Chinese Press to English/Portuguese. I have a previous question: you mention a maximum rate of $0.02 / $0.01 per word, $4 per hour. This rate is only for proofreading, right? My rate for translating English to Portuguese is between 0,055 USD (0,050 Euros) and 0,095 USD (0,080 euros) per word (from source text), depending from the text and the deadlines. My proofreading rate is 0,02 USD/per word (0,015 Euros) including editing and reviewing. I am making a bid for proofreading, as this the only specific mention of payment you have for this job: 80 USD/per 4.000 words daily.
Between 2010 and 2015 I worked as a translator, linguist reviewer and proofreader for the "Macao Government Office for International Law Affairs”, translating and reviewing legal documents from organizations like the United Nations or the World Health Organization.
I work as a journalist since 1981 and had several editorial positions in Portuguese national newspapers, so I have a command of Portuguese language well above the average and a lot of experience of working under the pressure of very strict deadlines.
Best Regards
Paulo Reis
