Hi, I have read your full description, As you are saying that mails are getting delivered into spam from your vps. I would like to let you know that there can be different reasons of spam delivery. One of the most impotent reason is reputation of your vps, if your vps IP is blacklisted from any RBL then your mails will be delivered into spam. we can find the exact reason of spam delivery once you will share your VPS details. Those two options you shared with us, we can implement both, using old reseller hosting as smtp server to your vps is good one, but in that case, your old reseller hosting provide must be allowed you to use those smtp details in your vps from their firewall.
