Was invited to perform feasibility study into a new generation of WESTECT. Original hardware were approaching obsolescence (a common hazard in high tech yet inherently conservative safety critical systems). Two years of my report writing, platform investigation, cost estimating and client negotiations a contract (~$20m) was awarded to Invensys Rail for the development of WESTECT II.
I was asked to perform more of a System Engineer / Technical Consultant role rather than the Software Engineering service
