First and foremost, if you're not familiar with my contests, I oftentimes pay for more than one winning design so don't hold back!
If you're a Hip Hop aficionado like myself or even just heavily focused on social media like the millions of other people around the world, chances are that you've witnessed/heard the power of "Team Backpack" (They're practically untouchable). I've always been intrigued by their movement and impact on the underground, however to me the name sounds as if they get together during recess; childlike or "Hipster" even.
Being so deeply rooted in early Hip Hop, bravado (Darwinism) has always been a concept behind all of my works and backpacks just don't do that for me lol.
That said, over the past 6-8 months, I've been building upon an adversary under the alias "Team Knapsack". Similar in the sense of morals and integrity, however vastly different in terms of approach.
Rather than continue on with my rambling, let's get down to why I'm here. We're looking for a t-shirt design (obviously), that encapsulates our brand. It's gotta be rugged, it's gotta have flair. If the design could be appreciated by both men and women, that'd be great but I'm leaving it up to the designers discretion. No color limits, if it's 4 or under we'll screenprint, if it's more we can always sublimate.
The MAJOR requirements are that it HAS to be a VECTOR design and the artwork has to be 100% ORIGINAL! If you don't know what that is, please don't submit an entry unless it's absolutely mindblowing.
I've attached a bunch of designs we've already paid for (REFERENCE ONLY, NO COPY/PASTE JOBS).

Not sure how but I have an eye for detail (I've been a designer for a number of years), so I've caught just about everything there is. You've got turntables, boomboxes, various styled microphones, dice, cassette tapes, paint drips, the attitude, the cracked concrete. It's got a very 80's NWA feel to it, with enough of a modern touch to still be relevant. Instant classic and again, my personal favorite. There are a lot of really great entries but none of them are quite this stacked :)

Absolutely! Again, as long as the message is clear and on subject (example: beachballs aren't really a Hip Hop thing), the only real limitations are in the artists mind!

Agreed, however I've ran a number of contests here and EVERY time, I get a handful of great artists messaging me for extensions so I figure it's more logical to end the contest ahead of schedule than to keep paying to extend it. For the t-shirt designs, I don't have anything particular idea in mind. The reference characters were pulled directly from our animation and game art but plans aren't to leave it at them, in the grand scheme of things. That said I'm leaving limitations up to the designers imagination. I do however have a poster idea for Team Knapsack, I feel your artwork would work extremely well with; if you're up to the task of course.

Absolutely, even says so in the first portion of the brief! Anytime I only need one or 2 designs, I'll reach out to an artist directly for a job (usually much cheaper that way) but with contests, the possibilities are endless! :)

Hello! I'm a designer with extensive knowledge in typography and access to an abundance of exclusive fonts; so while I personally enjoy good word art, I'd prefer to keep the early designs more illustrative. Copyright infringement (ie. using fonts against their usage terms) however, will be rejected. Other than that, I'm really leaving it up to the designer to decide where they wanna go with it :)

To clarify less broadly, yes phrases are allowed, although less likely to win without illustration.

Indeed they are. They can be incorporated into the design BUT they must be illustrated/depicted as seen fit by the designer. All artwork must be completely original, so no cut/paste or simple color swaps :)
