Background
We are a global travel company with offices around the world. To help expand the business, we are now looking at creating a travel blog, with information on frequent flier schemes, hotel programmes, award earning and travel deals, as well as trip reports and reviews of travel products, such as suit cases and electronics. We require a logo for the blog, as well as a web page header that reflects the content and aims of the site.

Geography
The blog will primarily be aimed at the UK travel market, but our reach is global, so the logo take this into account and not just be UK-centric.

Business Model
The business model of the travel company, and the key thing that separates us from the competition, is our professional service, delivering a 24 hour concierge-style experience to ensure that our clients are never left to deal with their own travel problems. This is delivered globally and at no extra cost. The travel blog will reflect this level of professionalism, although it will have a more relaxed feel, aimed at pulling in users from all demographics. It is not primarily aimed at business or leisure travellers, although I would see the bias as being 70:30 in favour of the leisure market as people with leisure aspirations will tend to have an influence on their business travel plans.

Target audience
Our target audience is two-fold, which complicates the design. We will be appealing to the professional flyer who wants to maximise airline / hotel status at their employers’ expense, as well as the leisure traveller, looking to get the best possible deal in the highest travel class. Our website users will most likely be people who travel the world, often at the best possible price for the highest possible cabin. There will be a good mix of low, medium and high income earners, including many people who travel using various reward schemes.

What should the logo reflect?
The logo should reflect the fact that we are a global company, with services aimed at a diverse user base. It should convey our aim of meeting the needs of the modern, global traveller, as well as keeping in mind the nostalgia or air travel from the past. We want something that conveys a sense of excitement about travel and a feeling of trust about the site.

Logo colour
The log should be simple, perhaps just 2-3 colours, including white. It should keep in mind the colours of our parent company, Propeller Travel (www.propellertravel.com), displaying familiarity between the two.

Adjectives to describe our company
Global, professional, modern, good-value, helpful, trustworthy

Tone and image
We would like the logo to convey a tone of trust, warmth, comfort, nostalgia and a need to travel.

Logo size
We would like to have a logo that can be used on letterheads and business cards etc., so a fairly standard size. However, in addition, we would like something that can used at the top of the website, so perhaps 800 wide by 100-200 high.
