We have a functioning (but still in development) HTML5 / JavaScript application that communicates with a (localhost) Websockets server written in Python. The Websockets server communicates with actual hardware via a proprietary protocol, thus creating a bridge between Javascript and actual hardware that - in itself - does not support Websockets. We want to port the Python part to Java, and make an Android Studio project that contains the Websockets server and opens the HTML5 in the browser, which then connects to the Websockets server. Ideally, the HTML5 would open in Webview, but I am not sure if our application will run in Webview.
The Python source code is 1151 lines of code (including the Websockets library), and will be made available to selected applicants before awarding the project. The HTML / js code will also be made available.
We will put the agreed amount into the Freelancer payment service, so that you are sure of payment. We can agree on milestones for partial completion. But we do not send initial payments to freelancers that have never worked for us before.
The project is not large, there is plenty of stuff out there that is similar. But we are not familiar with Android and this project will help us make the transition. If you perform well, more projects can be awarded, we have an ongoing budget for software development concentrating on iOS, Android, Raspberry Pi, and HTML running on these platforms.
