Taking photo from camera to preview takes time- ANDROID

We have a demo app that takes full vertical photos from the camera (using On Picture Taken function). and then move to preview screen (same as fb/instagram) to see the taken photo.
Problem: We notice there is about 2 sec to take after taking the photo to show the preview screen (check this video of the issue [login to view URL]
We need to minimize the time and take less than 500ms. I will add on Bitbucket those who succeed to convince us to check the code and see if they can assist.
Someone suggested us to create NDK to deal with core hardware features. you have to explain if your solution requires NDK.
