Audio on Raspberry Pi3

I wanted to install google assistant on my raspberry pi3 and I did, but it turns out it is showing an error that my audio is not working. Now I'm not sure if there's any software out there that i can use to solve this as I did researched and found talk to speech but it it is not being recognized by my pi3, or if something is wrong with the hardware itself as I don't know how am I able to check if my pi3 is fully functional or not.
