Our organisation subscribes to Skype for Business (Microsoft Lync). We want to use this VoIP application to call (and receive calls from) Australian fixed-line and mobile numbers. When calling out, we wish to have our caller ID visible to call recipients. Likewise, when receiving calls, we need to see the Australian caller IDs of calling parties. We know that this is possible. Advise us on how this is to be accomplished. Specify the sequence of steps to take, as well as the additional resources that we may need to procure. Our headquarters is in Sydney. We need to be able to use Skype for Business (Microsoft Lync) for this purpose whether our personnel are in Sydney, elsewhere in Australia, or anywhere else on this planet.
We plan on migrating from Skype (the personal one) to Skype for Business and we're looking to automate migrating the contacts from one platform to the other. As of now, there's no automated built-in tool that allows Skype for Business to import Skype contacts. However Skype allows for exporting contacts in vCard format, and since vCard format can be converted to a .CSV file and since Skype for Business can import CSV files, then there's a way to manually convert contacts. We need a script or an application that can automate this procedure when run locally on the machine where Skype and Skype For Business runs. No server-side code needed unless that approach is simpler to develop.
