Speech Collection Project

Task Overview Appen is helping our clients to build the next generation of artificial intelligence powered interactive voice response (IVR) systems in the customer service areas. The end goal is to allow machines to interact with and respond to customers with their inquiries in any daily scenarios, such as banking, hospitality, and more, with no or little human input. In order to do this, we are collecting speech samples of general conversations people would have over phone calls for research and machine training purposes. Target Language English from people who grew up in England (Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland will be in the next phase). Task Details What you need to do In this task, you will complete 4 phone calls with another person using our recording platform on topics provided. Each phone call will be 15 minutes. All 4 calls can either be made to the same person or different people of your choice. It can be your family or your friend. The conversation should be as natural as possible and in a quiet indoor environment. You will need to provide a few demographics information for the call receiver(s) on the platform. Eligibility Both you AND the person you call MUST: - be over 18 years old - speak English (England) as the first language - not have participated in this project before Topics Choose from the 17 topics below. You can cover more than one topics in each call. Once the forms are received and the candidates qualify for our project, our project supervisors will send a detailed task instruction to the email address provided. Incentive You will receive an incentive of US$50 if your recordings are ACCEPTED.
