I'm assuming there's a limited amount of leeway regarding the amount of delay the person who pays for the posts is allowed to put off the payment. Maybe 7 - 10 days, or else the post's status changes to 'draft'. I don't think there is a problem storing the post in the wp_posts table, it will just need extra validation when being inserted, since we trust the admins but don't trust any user who submits a form on the front end. A 'sponsored' tag can be added to sponsored posts to distinguish them from regular posts. The plugin settings would have a place to put the Stripe and Paypal details of the site owner, so that the payments can go through. This would support one-time payments only. If a customer wants to buy a second post, then they must make a second one-time payment, for example.
