Paint a word picture of your favourite character in any children's book, focusing first on physical appearance, and then moving on to sum up other traits. The picture should capture specific and concrete definitive characteristics. Ideally, any reader familiar with the character would recognise him / her on the basis of the description. Caveat: beware abstract and general language. Words such as "brave" and "good" are not descriptive: (a) they cannot be visualised, (b) they convey conclusions drawn from specific details, or even assumptions unsupported by specific details. Style: Aim for the minimum number of words needed to communicate information clearly, accurately, effectively. In other words, steer clear of both informal English and excessively formal English (both of which tend to be wordy, vague and potentially fraught with grammatical errors)
