Programming Project: GEOLOOKUP

This assignment is part of a series of experimental programming projects. Below is the goal of this assignment. We are asking you to achieve this goal in the best, most efficient way you can. Five programmers will be selected to complete this task. In your bid, please include the following: - The programming language you intend to use - The general method you propose GOAL: Much of our data will have geo references like country, region/date, city, longitude and latitude. If a user wants, say, quotations on “love” and we know their country, or long/lat, or even the browser language (where we can guess a long/lat for each language), it should be able to deliver a sequence of quotations (closest to farthest) from the person’s geographic location. Similarly, if they set their preferences to learn about a place, we can have quotations be relevant to the place, first, etc. This might be true for many tabs, etc. This will use the GEO tagging mentioned in the project above to query. Method: (1) investigate if SOLR can do this. (2) engine whatever is needed to make this query really fast. (An example database can be provided.)
