I am looking to develop an app that is capable of indoor positioning. The app should be able to use various wi-fi access points to achieve localization. This will be done by using the dBM reading from different access points. Heres the general idea
Using a smartphone you can walk around your office space (for example) and collect data readings. The data collected (wi-fi AP MAC Address, and dBM) will be fed to a remote server where machine learning algorithms will classify and compile the collected signal strength. Once this data is processed by the server it will give us a unique "wifi fingerprint" of the office. Any employee in the office (with the app) should be able to get their positioning inside the building.
**VERY IMPORRANT**
The aim of this project is to develop a custom machine learning indoor localization algorithm. Because I am short on time, I would consider using a 3rd party localization service such as "[login to view URL]" and "indooratlas"
These methods are quickly deployable and will get my app up and running but the goal is still to create a custom localization algorithm with an accuracy of 2 meters or better.
Up until now I have spoken about Wi-fi access points. It should also work with bluetooth (I.e beacons)
