Community Site (CMS/Portal)

This educational outreach project is in partnership with some Egyptian schools and the site needs to support the arabic language. Users could specify as part of their personal info a language preference. We need to have a basic site up and running by July. We expect the project to unfold over time with more additions/modifications, so we're looking for an ongoing relationship to develop, support, enhance, and modify the site. Easy to use backend web based control panels for adminstrative functions. Search (all site data) site data on the site will be tagged with meta search fields so that a comprehensive search can collect all data related to a specific search. For instance, if photo is uploaded a meta data form with specific fields will be supplied as part of the uploading process so that a caption, date, location, people, event, and other info can be assocaited with the data item - these meta fields would be the means for a search form for the site. abilaity to save seach criteria for reuse later, kinda like bookmarking favorites. user management must support groups and permissions so that data that is added can be resticted to read only or read/write or invisible. For instance, if I posted an event on the calendar and someone else logged on they would not see my event if they were in a group that didn't have persmission to view that event. see this url for a mockup of the basic interface desired. <[login to view URL]> ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform we're open to platform and database backend - we could go windows/linux and sqlserver or mysql php/asp - it doesn't really matter too much. in your bid let us know your reasoning behind what platform you suggest. we will be interested in a hosted solution to get started until we can get a server up and running at the university. you can assume windows xp machines and internet explorer as the default standards to develop for.
