Inline entity form on node is special case always in drupal, and this kind of work needs an real expert of drupal. I would say complexity for this task is - HIGH. Whatever you have setup based on business requirment is excellent. I mean InlineEntityForm is complex but it is preferred ways for experienced devs. Solution: Most of the work needs to be done for Inline Entity Forms. Robust solution (I would go this way): Need to implement several AjaxCommands on the form which will trigger on specific conditino and will auto update the respective fields on the form.
