Dear sir, I am administering linux servers for over 15 years though I am just recently entered freelance waters. Problem with your mysql is easily solvable, we just need to define users and passwords for you current needs - for instance, root user/password should never be used with any web app. What I want to do is make a wordpress user for mysql database and then setup privileges so that wordpress database user can work only with wordpress database. Also, your problem with site crashing is probably related to heavy load of your site - I would install fastcgi, php-fpm, php-apcu, mod-pagecache and memcache so your site will be more stable and much faster than it is now. My usual list price for remote gigs is 1240$ per day, so $160 per hour. I propose to spend 2hours at your time zone, for the bidded price, to solve problem nº1, and to guide you into solving problem nº2. The ideal would be to do it using a screen sharing solution (teamviewer like)+ skype/phone call. The screen sharing solution can be made read only so that consultant cannot touch anything.
