Migrate Microsoft SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2008 Server to New Server

Hello, Let me help you to migrate your SQL Server to the new server. If possible, I can create all user accounts using script. I already have experience with this in ERP implementation. After migration, your old server can be used as backup server so you can switch server easily by changing clients' connection parameter. Although this will require SQL Server 2012 installation on the old Windows Server 2008. Database can be transfered using backup and restore. But if a quick downtime is possible, then we can move database files (mdf files) directly. This way we can make sure that there is no new data entered to the old server while migration process. I have 7+ years of experience as Windows Administrator at various organizations. Completed various SQL server related projects: such as migration, configuration, securing. we are using migration sql script w/ stored procedure (not standard) for smoothly migration users database settings, passwords etc. As I understand you have standalone MS SQL server 2008. What is edition of MS SQL server on old and on new one? Do you need access to old sql server during migration? Do you need migration only SQL Server or some Windows Server settings? SQL server not used from System Center products? Will move all user databases to other data, and save current databases schema naming. usualy migration takes 8-16 hours for huge database server. Hello, With many years of experience working with Windows Server and SQL Server, this is my solution: - Create a copy of current server to new server using Ghost tool or something like that. New server have to have the same hardware configuration as current server. Then we will work with new server. - Upgrade Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2012. - Upgrade SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012. It will keep all exist accounts and databases.
