My outlook express on my XP machine was running slow to open the first email after rebooting my computer. This was going on for about 1 month. After it opened the first email, other emails opened fine. Yesterday it got to the point it would take 10 min to open some emails, and when they opened they were blank. was using 50% of CPU. I tried a restore point to 1 week earlier and no fix. I took the advise of a website and ran "sfc /scannow". It was working but then asked for the original XP CD, which I did not have. I answered Cancel to about 3 questions, and then cancelled it completely. Now if I run Chrome, Outlook Express, MS Word, MS Pub they use up 50% of CPU and hang.
